ComboZen help

Everything ComboZen does, and the questions asked most often.

Where to start

Three things to set up, three daily gestures, and the rest takes care of itself.

What you set up.

  • 🔁 A habit Something that should become automatic. Three questions — what, when in the day, for how long — and it joins your morning, midday or evening routine. There is no goal to name.
  • 🎯 A goal A project to carry out, or a single thing to do on a given day. You name it, three questions pin it down, then you break it down. It carries a scale from 0 to 10: your own judgement, not a calculation.
  • 🪜 Steps The real work, in doable pieces. Each one knows when it is expected: once, on set days, or at a rhythm that spreads out as it settles in.

What you do every day.

  • Tick it off Tick the box, or slide the row to the right. Whatever is done leaves the day’s list.
  • Skip a day Slide to the left: the task is no longer expected today. Nothing is broken, nothing is held against you.
  • 🏆 File away what holds A habit kept long enough no longer needs a reminder every morning: it joins your achievements, and the day’s list gets shorter.

What the application makes of it.

  • 📈 Tracking Consistency, coverage, streaks. Nothing is declared: these figures only say what your ticks demonstrate.
  • 🛋️ The zones 🌱 learning, 🛋️ comfort, 🏔️ stretch. They change the order in which tasks are offered to you — start what has not begun, hold what has, aim higher — and settle themselves on your rhythm.
  • ⚙️ The automatic parts Daily reminder, badge on the icon, home-screen widget. Enough to bring you back without thinking about it.

The main screen

What you see when you arrive, top to bottom.

The top of the screen: the title and the smiley.

  • The smiley, at the top The average of all your scales, goals and steps alike. You can remove it in Settings → Display.

The body of the screen.

  • Today’s tasks What is expected today. Until you have created something, the box gives way to the two creation commands.
  • The zone banner The current zone and two gauges. “Progress” sums up where you stand; the second gives the way to the next zone, following whichever criterion is holding you back — a line says which. Each gauge opens on its last seven days with one tap.
  • Where I stand Four tiles; each opens its chart below. None is open to begin with. The box appears from your first tick onwards: before that there is nothing to measure.

What lets you add.

  • New goal… Opens three questions: one-off or recurring, when, and which first step. A one-off goal gets its checkbox — dated if you know the day, in which case it only appears then; otherwise you pick a deadline, and it is offered from today until it is done.
  • 🌱 Create a new habit Three questions — what, when, for how long — and the habit joins your morning, midday or evening routine. These routines create themselves: there is no goal to name.
  • 🏆 My achievements What you have already earned.

The “Today’s tasks” box

What you can do there, and what each gesture produces.

The box and its pencil, top right.

  • Ticking a task The checkbox, or the switch if you chose it in Settings → Display. On a phone, sliding to the right does the same. The control answers, then goes: the task is done, there is nothing left to command on it. The label stays, struck through.
  • Going back on a tick Through the pencil, top right: ticked tasks find a switch again there, shown off. Turning it on puts the task back for ticking.
  • Counting repetitions The number is a button: touch it to type, and it becomes a button again as soon as you leave it. Leave it empty until you have counted — a zero would read as “nothing done”. Going past the target raises the mark to beat, from the next time the task is shown.
  • Setting a scale Touch the face to unlock it, set it, touch it again to lock it. Without that lock, a simple scroll would move the value.
  • How many tasks at a time The list shows a limited number of steps, and says below it what it is holding back. Nothing is lost: what does not fit comes back as soon as a row leaves. You set that number in Settings → Display.

The actions revealed under each task by the pencil.

  • ← ✕ Skip for today Slide to the left, or the small button. The task leaves the day and comes back tomorrow; the day still counts as missed. What has been skipped sits below the list, with a way to restore it.
  • ✎ Edit Opens the goal list straight on that step, unfolded. Enough to fix a label or a rhythm without having to find the goal that carries it.
  • ❚❚ Pause The step asks for nothing more and leaves the indicators; its streak and record are kept. You resume it from the goal’s edit mode.
  • “Overdue” A past due date went unmet. Ticking it today covers it and restarts the streak.

The buttons at the bottom

☑ Goal list📊 Ranking⚙ Settings

The buttons at the foot of the main screen.

  • ☑ Goal list Opens the panel where everything is created and changed. The number beside it is your goal count.
  • 📊 Ranking Opens the panel where you see your position relative to other users.
  • ⚙ Settings Notifications, display, language, account — and the zone in expert mode.
  • ✉ Write to us Opens a contact form. Your address is attached automatically: you do not have to type it, and replying to the message is enough to reach you.

The “Ranking” panel

Your figures, set against everyone else’s. “62 % consistency” does not say whether that is a lot; the rank does.

  • What a rank is A number from 0 to 100: the share of participants you are ahead of. 70 means you do better than 70 % of them. It is not a mark out of a hundred.
  • Overall Your position across all indicators, each weighing the same: the average of your ranks, not of your figures.
  • The other lines One per indicator from the main screen: consistency, coverage, total progress, progress towards the next zone, combo. The bar places your marker between last and first.
  • Who is counted People who used the application over the past month, going by their last measured day. A journal abandoned six months ago does not rank you against the absent.
  • What never leaves No name, no figure belonging to anyone else: the database returns only your rank. Below ten participants there is no ranking — in a group of three, a position would say too much about the other two.
  • If nothing appears Either there are not enough participants yet, or you have no measured day yet. The ranking will appear on its own.

The “Goal list” panel

New goal…🏆 My achievements↑↓🗑

The head of the panel, then a goal’s card.

  • The smiley, beside the title The average of your scales, visible while you set them: this header does not scroll.
  • The creation field, then 🏆 Create a goal, or look at what is settled. At the foot of the list, the 🌱 button adds a habit to one of your three routines — morning, midday or evening.
  • A goal’s title The small number before it is its priority rank, as soon as you have several goals. Its colour is the one you gave it in edit mode, if it carries one.
  • ↑ ↓ under the title Move the goal up or down. The order is a priority: it decides what is offered to you first.
  • ✎ Edit Opens the edit mode for that goal.
  • 🗑 Delete Erases the goal, its steps and their history. Asks for confirmation, and cannot be undone. To set a step aside without losing anything, prefer the pause or the achievements.
  • The scale under the title Where you stand on this goal, from 0 to 10. Touch the smiley to unlock it, set it, touch it again to lock it — without that lock, a simple scroll would move the value.
  • When the scale moves on its own It goes up a point when a step never started has just been. A record beaten does not raise it: that says effort, not progress. It goes down when coverage falls back, and when a streak breaks.

Editing a goal

The goal’s settings — pace, time of day, colour — are behind ⚙. Each step sits on one line; its settings unfold on demand.

↑↓❚❚🧰🗑

A folded step: its rank, its pause, then its three actions.

  • Time of day “Every morning” puts its tasks at the head of the list, “every evening” at the end, “from midday” only shows them at midday. This ordering beats every other. By default, all day long.
  • Colour of the labels A tint of your choosing, carried by the goal’s title and by the labels of its steps. It serves to group the eye in a day list that mixes several goals; no information rests on it.
  • Step pacing The pace decides what is offered to you first; the other steps stay tickable. “One step at a time” follows on: the next appears as soon as the previous is ticked. Paces by day, week or month wait for the next period, and cap the number of steps — the goal warns you when the limit is reached.
  • ↑ ↓ before a step Change its rank. That order decides which one is offered first when the goal follows a pace. The arrows disappear while a step is unfolded.
  • ❚❚ Pause, ▶ Resume Sets the step aside, or brings it back. Nothing is lost in between.
  • ✎ Edit a step Unfolds its fields. The × closes without cancelling anything.
  • 🏆 The trophy Files the step into your achievements: it leaves the working list without being deleted. Filing also stops its notifications.
  • 🗑 Remove Removes the step from the draft. Final once the goal is saved.
Step labelStep typeCadence, count…2 d2-3 d3 d+ Add a step

The settings that appear once the step is unfolded.

  • Type of step Checkbox, recurring task, or scale from 0 to 10. The fields that follow depend on that choice.
  • Offer this box “Every day” sets up a habit: settled once kept unbroken for the duration chosen below. “Every day, no end” for something that will never become automatic. “Until it is done” for an errand: it comes back every day and leaves as soon as it is ticked.
  • Settling-in time From 7 days to 9 months. Seven days is enough for a simple gesture, not for a practice. A missed day sends the streak back to zero.
  • Count Repetitions, sets of repetitions, or duration. The amount entered becomes the target; going beyond it raises the mark to beat, except for a duration.
  • Cadence of a recurring task You pick the family first — every day, every few days, weekly cadence, every 10 days or more, specific days — then the exact value on the chips that appear. Cadences too long for the goal’s pacing are not offered: a quarterly step does not fit a goal that moves one step a day.
  • Which days? For a cadence on specific days. The letters kept are the days expected; the others will ask nothing of you.
  • + Add a step Below the steps, in the goal list, and not under “Edit”: it is while reading the list that you see what is missing. The button opens editing on a fresh step. At the maximum of a calendar pace, it gives way to a message. “One at a time” does not count: it caps nothing.
  • Save, Cancel Nothing is written until you have saved.

🏆 My achievements

RescheduleReschedule

Each line recalls its goal and carries its button.

  • What is in there Settled checkboxes, which file themselves, and any step you moved there with the trophy. Each line recalls the goal it comes from and the record reached.
  • Reschedule Puts the step back into the day’s tasks: the streak restarts from zero, the record is kept. The settling-in time restarts at the next step up — seven days kept restart on fifteen.
  • 🗑 Delete Erases the step and everything it carried — ticks, streak, record. Asks for confirmation, cannot be undone. It is the only place an achieved step can be removed from.

The four tiles of “Where I stand”

Each opens its chart; a second tap closes it.

ConsistencyCoverageComboWatch point

Three figures on one line, the watch point across the full width.

  • Consistency The share of due dates met over the last seven days. A rhythm longer than a week is never expected there, so it counts neither for nor against. The chart shows eight weeks: the tile says the week, the chart says the trend.
  • Coverage The share of your steps started at least once. The detail breaks the started steps down goal by goal.
  • Combo Your longest ongoing streak, and your record. The chart shows both over fourteen days: the bar carries the day’s streak, the line above carries the record. A very old record may not appear there — the tile keeps it. Below, “See the ten best combos” names the steps that carry your longest streaks.
  • Worth a look What deserves a glance: a broken streak, a step never started, a goal whose mark stalls despite the steps done.

Settings

ZoneNotifsAffichageApplic.CompteAutomatic

The panel’s tabs, and the switch at its foot.

  • Zone Leave it on “Automatic”, or impose a zone. Stretch is set aside while consistency stays below 70 %: it comes back on its own with the rhythm. The tab only appears in expert mode — or as long as a zone is imposed, so that it can always be released.
  • Notifications The daily reminder on the device, with its time and frequency, and a button to try it. The reminders panel has two tabs: what should ring, and “Coming up”, where what is planned for a date is listed and its time is set. The icon badge and the widget are set in the same place, in the installed application.
  • Display — legibility Theme, typeface — including Luciole — and three sizes on a slider, which also enlarge the boxes and the charts. “Smiley on the main screen” removes it from the home screen without removing it from the list.
  • Display — gestures On a touch screen, “Tick with a slide”: the row slid right ticks off, slid left skips the day. Checkboxes only accept the second gesture. On a computer these gestures are small buttons — so skipping a day depends on no setting. “Switches instead of boxes” widens the target.
  • Display — feedback when ticking A bowl strike, a vibration, both, or nothing. Each way of ticking has its own — the box, the slide, the switch — and rewards have theirs. Vibration is only offered on a device that can vibrate, and “both” from comfort onwards: in stretch it is the starting setting.
  • Display — length of the day’s list How many steps the day’s tasks box shows at a time. What does not fit comes back as soon as a row leaves, and the list says below it what it is holding back. In expert mode: elsewhere, the zone decides.
  • Display — rest days How many days a week can be missed without a streak breaking. It is a tolerance you grant yourself: nothing can guess it for you.
  • Display — routine hours When the morning leaves the day’s list — midday — and when the evening enters it — six in the evening. For this device only.
  • Expert mode At the foot of the panel: it shows what the zone usually sets itself — the Zone tab, and the length of the day’s list. Absent in learning, where what sets itself should keep doing so; your choice waits for you back in comfort.
  • Account Your address, signing out, the version in service, a link to this help, and permanent deletion of the account — goals erased on the spot, subscription cancelled on the paid version, nothing to restore afterwards.

Your account

What surrounds the application itself: getting in, getting out, and — on the paid version — the subscription that opens it.

  • Creating an account An address and a password of at least eight characters. Signing in stays refused until the confirmation email has been followed; if it does not arrive, a button sends it again under the error message.
  • Forgotten password Your address, then “Forgotten password?”. The link you receive brings you back into the application to choose a new one. The message is the same whether the address is known or not: that prevents guessing who has an account.
  • Remember me Ticked, your session survives closing the browser. Unticked, it goes with the tab — better on a shared device.
  • Deleting my account Settings → Account, right at the bottom; a word to copy out to confirm. Goals, steps, streaks and achievements are erased immediately, the subscription cancelled in the same move. Nothing can bring them back.
  • Your practitioner’s code If a practitioner supports you and holds the professional subscription, they give you a personal eight-character code. Enter it in Settings → Account, “Connect me to my practitioner”: it opens their access to your goals, and you have nothing to pay while that link holds. The code works once, and exists nowhere else — we cannot give it back to you, only they can.
  • If the offered access stops It ends when you remove the link, or when your practitioner’s professional subscription ends. Your goals, your steps and your history stay untouched: the screen tells you so and offers the ordinary subscription. Nothing is lost, nothing is erased.
  • The subscription On the paid version, the application opens with a subscription in force. “Manage my subscription”, in Settings → Account, opens our payment provider’s portal: payment method, invoices, and cancellation in a few clicks. No bank details are ever entered on this site.

On your phone

In the installed application, three things work without opening it.

widget3icon and badge

The home-screen widget and the badge on the icon.

  • The daily reminder A notification at the chosen time, naming the day’s steps. It is scheduled by the phone, with no server and no third-party service. Days with nothing to tick stay silent.
  • The badge on the icon The number of steps left. Tick the setting, then turn on “Notification dots” in the General section of the phone’s settings — not the application’s. Tick “Hide silent notifications” in the same place: the badge stays, the status bar gets quieter. Then touch “Test the badge”, close the application and open it again.
  • The home-screen widget The steps you have never started, without opening the application — the application already shows you the day; the widget recalls what has not begun. Long press on the home screen → Widgets → “ComboZen — étapes jamais entamées” (the widget’s name is not translated yet). It updates on every opening, at the change of date and on restart.

Frequently asked questions

Who can see my goals?

You alone. The database access rules reserve them for their author: neither another user nor the administrator can read them. The administration console only shows volumes — number of goals, share ticked off, last sign-in — never a label. The ranking itself is computed in the database, which returns only your rank.

Why did the application reload on its own?

At midnight it starts again on the current day. Everything it was showing dated from when you opened it, and ticking a box in the small hours would have counted for the day before. Nothing is lost: what you tick is recorded when you tick it. It also reloads when its connection had to be taken up again — a device’s clock can drift far enough for the server to refuse the key, and starting cleanly beats sitting in front of a screen that no longer answers.

Why is my ranking showing nothing?

Either you have no measured day yet, or there are fewer than ten participants over the past month. Below that, a rank would say too much about the others. It will appear on its own.

What happens if I miss a due date?

Nothing is lost. The task is flagged “overdue” and stays tickable: ticking it covers the missed date. Your streak restarts, and your record stands.

What is the difference between skipping a day and pausing?

Skipping only holds for today: the task comes back tomorrow, and the day counts as missed. A pause holds until you lift it: the step asks for nothing and leaves every indicator, without its streak or its record being touched.

Why does my checkbox come back every day?

It is a habit settling in: it comes back every day until its duration has been kept unbroken — seven days by default, adjustable up to nine months — then joins your achievements. A missed day sends the streak back to zero. For something to do once, choose “until it is done”.

A step has vanished from my list, where has it gone?

Look in 🏆 My achievements: a settled box files itself there, and you can reschedule it at any time. If you had paused it, it is still in its goal, struck through and marked “paused”.

Why doesn’t my consistency move when I tick a yearly task?

The tile measures the last seven days: it answers “how is this week going”. The chart shows eight, because a trend cannot be read from seven points. A task whose rhythm is longer than a week is not expected in the tile, so it counts neither for nor against.

Why did my scale move on its own?

It follows the facts. It only goes up when the goal’s coverage progresses — a step never started that has just been — and gains a point then, never more than one at a time. A record beaten does not raise it: that says effort, not progress. It goes down a point when coverage falls back, and another when a streak breaks. You can set it by hand at any time: touch the smiley to unlock it.

My practitioner gave me a code: what does it do?

It links you to them and opens your access. In practice: your goals, your steps and your statistics become readable to them — read-only, they can change nothing — and your account becomes free while the link holds. If you were already subscribed, your subscription stops by itself at the end of the period you paid for, which stays yours. You can remove that link at any time, with one button, without having to explain yourself.

Can I change zone myself?

Yes, in Settings → Zone, once expert mode is turned on at the foot of the panel. You can always step back down — to comfort from stretch, to learning from anywhere. Moving up is not a choice: a zone is observed, and the application takes you there when the facts follow. Stretch is also set aside if consistency drops below 70 %.

How do I install the application?

On Android, the download button appears by itself on the main screen. On iPhone and iPad, Apple allows no installation outside the App Store: add the page to your home screen from Safari’s Share button — it will then open full screen.

Why don’t notifications work in my Android browser?

Web notifications all go through Google Play services there, Firefox included. On a phone without them, no browser manages it. The installed application does without: its reminders are scheduled by the phone itself.

Can I use the application on several devices?

Yes. Your goals follow your account. Display and reminder settings, however, stay particular to each device: a large screen and a phone do not call for the same text size.

What becomes of my old data?

Your records are kept indefinitely. The detail of the ticks is thinned out beyond eight weeks, except for the ongoing streak, which stays whole for as long as it runs.

How do I delete a goal?

With the bin icon, in the goal list. Deleting takes its steps and their history with it, and asks for confirmation — it is final. To set a step aside without losing anything, prefer the trophy, which moves it into your achievements.
